"I showed up for the first day wearing a button up shirt, jeans and a pair of vans"
Ok first off, you need to know that my name is Myles, (important to the story). Alright, the summer going into my 7th grade year i had signed up to play football. After a couple practices, I easily found out that football wasn't my sport. So I asked my mom to go change my schedule and she asked me what I wanted to play instead of football, and I told her just to sign me up for something, I didn't really care. She came home that day saying I was going to run Cross Country, I asked her what that was, and she told me. So I show up to the first day of school wearing a button up shirt, jeans, and a pair of vans. It ended up that we had to run a timed mile to see if we could make the team, and the cut-off for the guys was a 10:00 mile. Well I ended up running a 10:15 mile, and the coach came up to me and asked for my name, and I told her that it was Myles. She then said, "Well you didn't make the cut-off time, but since you're name is Myles, ill make an exception." After that season, I was able to bring my mile time down to a 6:17, the year after that, a 5:21, and now, being a junior in high school, the fastest mile runner on our team, a 4:44.
Myles now runs for Hutchinson Community College
