"turns out he was one of the fastest on the team, he kicked my butt"
Here's my "I almost didn't run XC" story. Once I got to high school, I knew I wanted to join a sports team but I didn't know which one. It turned out that I didn't do any sports freshman year. But my neighbor ran XC and track. And then one day, he asked me to go on a run with him. I was forced to bc my parents were next to me and they said I should. It turns out that he was one of the fastest people on the team and he kicked my butt and left me in the dust. But for some reason after that I kept running and I did XC my sophomore year. At my 1st practice, it was the hardest route by our school, and I tried to run w the fastest guy on the team, my neighbor, and my coach bc I only knew them. Needless to say, I got destroyed, but I continued to do it for the rest of my high school. I can't imagine high school without XC.
