New Beginnings

I grew up as an athlete playing all different kinds of sports but, for the longest time I thought that my heart was set on volleyball. It was the sport I wanted to play for the rest of highschool. All my friends were involved in volleyball and I really just thought the game was my life.
My sophomore year of high school, I started at a new school, same people just a new school with double the size. I trained all summer for volleyball, but I lost so much love for the sport. It's amazing how a coach can ruin a sport you loved. Anyways, I wasn't the same player I used to be and ended up getting cut. I was devistated and I thought it was the worst day of my life but it ended up being the best. Since I always loved playing sports, I decided I didn't want to sit around all fall and that I would join cross country and I'm so glad I did. The first day of cross country, I knew nobody I was so nervous and scared but immediately the coaches were super nice and supportive which I didn't understand, I didn't think any coaches for a high school level actually cared and were supportive. I quickly made amazing friends from the sport while growing a love for running. Looking back I wish that I would've done cross country in the previous years because I have never in my life had such a great experience as I did during cross country. I never thought that a sport could impact your life as much as cross country impacted mine. My times improved over the season and I grew so much confidence and learned to push myself all while having so many supporters through my coaches, parents and teammates. I just can't wait for cross country to start again
